Conor Cummins leaves NCT Vanfit Yamaha

British Superstock rider and road racer Conor Cummins has left the NCT Vanfit Yamaha team for which he was riding with immediate effect.

Due to this split Cummins will not be racing in the upcoming British Superstock round at Cadwell Park despite finishing third at the first Oulton Park round of the season.

After the good result at Oulton Park Conor Cummins and the team suffered a string of mechanical problems at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.

Speaking about the split, Conor Cummins said: “I’m really disappointed with how the season has turned out and although I managed a podium early in the year, the majority of the results haven’t what I’d hoped for.

“The TT has to be the biggest disappointment of my career so far and since then it’s been a real struggle to keep everything on track. It’s been a very unsettling time for me, which has made it difficult to stay focused on the racing side of things but I’ve kept my head down and have worked as hard as I could.

“Unfortunately, our fortunes haven’t improved and it just hasn’t worked out so we’ve made the decision to part company with immediate effect. I’d like to complete the season and end the year in the top ten of the Superstock Championship but, at this moment in time, I have nothing on the table so will be sitting on the sidelines until that situation changes.”

Conor Cummins will miss the final four rounds of the British Superstock championship, but he will be looking towards securing a ride for 2009 and he hopes to hear from anyone who needs a rider for any of the remaining British Superstock rounds.
