Donington Park MotoGP: Chad on pole for GSX-R Trophy

1 of 2

MCN Road Tester Adam Child has shocked everyone at Donington Park today, as well as the entirety of the MCN office, by putting himself on pole position for tomorrow’s two Suzuki GSX-R Trophy races to support the British GP.

Chad, a regular club racer, is making a one-off appearance in the one-make championship this weekend, and set a time of 1.43.53 round the 2.5mile circuit.

In fact he finished the 25-minute qualifying session that was shared with the Henderson R1 Cup riders, including fellow MCN Road Tester Michael Neeves, ahead of six of the litre-class Yamahas.

He said: “I can’t believe it; I’m bouncing around like a lunatic at the moment.

“I have to say a big thanks to Ron Haslam because he showed me around here for a day recently and I picked up loads of tips.

“I also want to thank Suzuki for letting me ride here, too.

“And finally I’d like to thank God for blessing me with the ability I hold today (may not be a direct quote from Adam).”

Michael Neeves posted the 12th fastest time of the same session, which puts him at the back of the third row for his races tomorrow, and guest road testing regular Bruce Dunn has also been flying, putting his TZ250 Yamaha provisionally second on the grid for the Moto GB2 Race tomorrow.

We’ll keep you posted tomorrow on MCN’s domination of the British GP.
