A lesson in AMA Superbikes diplomacy – not

And you thought tensions were running high at the BSB Mallory round last week, following the Josh Brookes incident!

What we have here is the series tech boss, and former Miguel Duhamel crew chief, Al Ludington (the official in the orange shirt) tearing a strip off perennial backmarker Johnny Rock Page.

Page was adjudged not to have paid attention to the blue overtaking flags – a warning he was about to be lapped.

The incident happened on the final lap of Saturday’s Superbike race, when he got between Josh Hayes, Aaron Yates and Tommy Hayden – allegedly ruining the outcome.

Page was doing a reality show based on his incompetence, which is why he was miked-up – much to the embarrassment of the American Superbike race organisation!

Interesting to note that earlier this season the same organisation handed racer Jamie Hacking an indefinite suspension and fined him $4000 for using ‘profane language’ in a post-race press conference row with arch-rival Jason Di Salvo at Auto Club Speedway earlier this year.

The organisation said of that incident: “Hacking displayed additional acts of inappropriate behaviour in both public and media interviews.

“No premier sporting organization would tolerate, whether it be motorsports or major league stick and ball sports, the level of disrespectful, profane and vulgar language in a public forum as demonstrated by Jamie Hacking this weekend at Auto Club Speedway.

“His behaviour was totally disrespectful to the media, his competitors and the sport of motorcycle racing in general.”

Okay, so the pit box may not have been a public forum, but one wonder’s what they’ll make of Ludington’s comment!
