Alastair Fagan's triple Triumph victory at Castle Combe

There could be another Triumph triple in British Supersport before the end of this year following success at a Castle Combe non-championship national meeting at the weekend.

Alastair Fagan, 24 from Bristol, took James Holland’s Triumph to a triple success, winning all three Sound of Thunder races and smashing the class lap record at the Wiltshire circuit.

It was the first time for a Triumph win at the circuit in 40 years since Percy Tait won an F750 race on a Triumph Trident.

Fagan also finished sixth and eight in the two superbike races with the 675 triple against the full-blown 1000cc machines.

Holland’s motorcycle is one of the ex-Paul Young campaigned in British Supersport last year and the Bristol-based tuner – better known for race prepping SV65-0 and 1000 v-twins said:

“When I bought the bike off Paul we stripped it to get a better understanding of what work had been done and how we might improve it. We’ve refined the gas flowing, revised the fuelling and replaced the Arrow exhaust with a factory Leo Vinci system that has a longer collector. We also fitted an Elka rear unit and modified the forks ourselves.”

“Now we’re going to take a look at the British Supersport championship. The bike should be very competitive – and there’s so much potential.”

Paul Young, a BSS regular and podium finisher at Kno
ckhill – has shouldered all the development work for two years now and has always said the triple has so much potential but he has never had the budget to fully exploit it.
