Stobart Vent Axia’s Tom Sykes was the fastest rider at Croft for day two of the British Superbikes test.

The 21-year-old recorded a best time of 1:19.8 just as the chequered flag was waved for the end of the day’s practice.

Several teams spent yesterday and today at the Teeside circuit collecting data, although most of yesterday’s sessions was interrupted by rain.

The weather was much kinder today and the rain held off allowing the teams to get more test time and some good performances in.

Second fastest was Gregorio Lavilla on his Airwaves Ducati, 0.1 of a second slower than Tom Sykes on a best of 1:19.9.

Jonathan Rea, double winner at Knockhill last weekend, managed to get some laps in today after the rain scuppered his plans yesterday.  His best was a time of 1:20.1 while Tom Sykes’ teammate, Shane Byrne managed a 1:20.4.

Chris Walker gave his Rizla Suzuki team a scare after falling off his GSX-R1000 this morning. He has a suspected broken arm, although he told MCN afterwards he does not feel he has badly damaged it and was on his way to see his own doctor for confirmation.

Brendan Roberts continued to impress on his first outing on the Buildbase Ducati British Superstock bike with some good lap times.
