Chilly Snett test gives little feedback

Despite only 11-degrees of track temperature, several riders ventured out onto the icy wastes of Snetterton circuit for this afternoon’s final BSB practice session.

Leon Haslam and Greogrio Lavilla didn’t appear to have their transponders tuned to the right frequency on the Airwaves Ducatis since they didn’t record any times, and even if they had, they would not have proven anything with the rear tyres only showing 40-degrees after two laps, where it would register 80-degrees in normal conditions.

Haslam said: “It wasn’t just the cold, it was the sidewind down the back straight blowing you across the track! It was important to do a few laps just to check our gearing. I was running a tooth and half different in overall gearing to normal and running through corners one gear lower than you would expect. It was also a good test of a tyre in those conditions.”

Of those with transponders working Jonathan Rea was quickest on the HM Plant Honda. Team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari didn’t go out in the last session but had done several laps earlier in the day.
