British Superbikes: Shane Byrne and Leon Camier sign for Ducati

All the speculation is over – GSE Racing are back in British Superbikes.

They have linked up with Airwaves for the fourth year running. They have factory 1098R F08 Ducatis and have signed Shane Byrne and Leon Camier.

The final piece of the jigsaw fell into place on Monday morning when Shane Byrne jetted into Stanstead from his home in Spain to meet GSE racing team manager Colin Wright. After talks Shakey signed on the dotted line.

Shane Byrne said: “In many ways I’m gutted to be leaving Paul Bird’s Stobart Honda team.

“Birdy and the boys have been so good to work with this year. We’ve had a great season together but GSE offered me the chance to race a Ducati factory bike in BSB and that was an offer I couldn’t refuse.”

The previous Thursday, Leon Camier was at the team’s base near Coventry to sign his contract. He’s still recuperating from the broken femur he sustained in a crash at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday but he was itching to get back on a bike.

“I can’t begin to tell you what this means to me. It’s a little surreal actually – to know I’m getting a factory Ducati in such a well respected team.
