British Superbikes: Karl Harris breaks three bones in foot

1 of 1

Karl Harris escaped his terrifying Thruxton accident with just two stitches in his top lip and three broken metatarsals in his right foot.

The Rob Mac Yamaha rider was knocked from his R1 in race two by Tom Sykes’ out of control bike after the Rizla Suzuki rider had a coming together with Leon Haslam.

Harris spoke to MCN late last night saying: “I’ve broken three small bones in my right foot.

“It’s not going to be that big a problem because I don’t use that foot much anyway, but it’ll stop me from going out running for my training.

“Toby Branfoot, the series doctor, told me it should be fine to ride at Oulton with a few painkillers inside me.

“Other than that I’ve got two stitches in my top lip and I’m suffering from a bit of whiplash – I’m contemplating going for one of those ‘no win, no fee’ claims against them for it,” he said jokingly.

“I have to say a big thanks to all the medical staff and circuit marshall – nobody gives them enough credit for what they do so I want to give them a big shout.”
