Airwaves Ducati’s Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne has continued his impressive return to two-cylinder machinery posting the only sub 1.37 time of the second day of testing at Almeria.

Byrne’s unofficial best lap was 1:36.7, putting him 0.4 seconds ahead of his closest rival Leon Haslam.

Both HM Plant riders maintained their fast times from the first day with Cal Crutchlow setting a 1.37.3.

Despite a big highside early in the afternoon on the second day, Tom Skyes also lapped the Spanish circuit in 1:37.3 with Rizla Suzuki team-mate Atsushi Watanabe scoring a 1:38.6 while still learning the track.

Michael Rutter split the two Suzuki riders with a 1:37.7 on his Northwest 200 Buildbase Ducati, and a hobbling Leon Camier knocked a full second off his day one best with a 1:38.8.
