Oulton Park British Superbikes: Cal Crutchlow takes pole

Cal Crutchlow has made the most of the wet practice session this morning to go on and set the fastest lap in the afternoon qualifying for the Oulton Park round of the British Superbike championship.

Factory Honda rider Crutchlow set a best lap of 1:36.298 to take pole, 0.292 seconds ahead of second place man Shane Byrne who sat out the morning.

Byrne only just managed to snatch the second place on the grid by one thousandth of a second from Rizla Suzuki rider Tom Sykes, while Karl Harris rounded off the front row a further two tenths down.

Karl Harris was the top Yamaha rider, a hundreth of a second behind Haslam, with fellow Yamaha man Simon Andrews leading Michael rutter and James Ellison across the line.

Top Kawasaki man Billy McConnell came second in the wet morning session but dropped down to 10th behind Tristan Palmer on the dry qualifying track.
