Brands Hatch British Superbikes: Injuries mean deplete BSB field

1 of 1

Some key names in the British Superbike field will be missing from this weekend’s two-day Brands Hatch round after a crashed-filled Oulton Park meeting less than a week ago.

And topping the list of names not in attendance will be Rob Mac Racing Yamaha’s Karl Harris.

Harris said: “Oulton Park, what a waste of time.

“You just can’t ride these bikes these days if you’ve got an injury – you need to be 100 per cent fit to be able to ride them properly.

“My crashes at Oulton only made the situation worse, so I’m going to take some time out this weekend and get away from racing.”

Also not in attendance will be Dean Ellison.

Ellison was knocked out in race two in an on-track incident with Steve Mercer, meaning the brother to podium finisher James Ellison is not allowed to ride for up to seven days.

And while there is good news that Adam Jenkinson could be back sooner than first thought thanks to a return to the surgeons table on Wednesday, SMT Honda will not be entering a rider for Brands.

Team Owner Robin Croft said: “With qualifying standing from Brands a month ago and Adam not riding, if Tom Grant was to ride with us again he’d have to start from the back.

“Tom’s not over-impressed with that, and with a gearbox going at Oulton in race one it’s a short turn-around for Brands to get the bikes fixed.”
