Chris Walker back in BSB with Rob Mac

Chris Walker has signed a deal with Rob McElnea to bring him back to British Superbikes on a Yamaha for 2009.

Walker will be part of a two-man British Superbike line-up for McElnea’s Yamaha squad next season with the second rider due to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The move bring Walker back to BSB with the same team he first took the championship by storm with back in 1997.

Speaking to MCN he said: “I always planned to come back.

“One of the biggest things in my career has been not winning a BSB championship and I feel like the timing to make a return is perfect.

“The truth is there is no greater feeling than racing in front of the British crowds. It’s going to be a great feeling to be able to see the British fans every week again.

“I still feel like I’ve got a good few years left in me yet and everything is still in the right places, more by luck than judgement with some of the crashes I’ve had.

“And the British Championship always eluded me so I couldn’t turn down the chance to ride for a team that I know will fully back me all the way.”

An official statement will be released tomorrow morning (Wednesday 26).
