Brands Hatch British Superbikes: Secret fork solution helps Ellison to fifth

1 of 1

Hydrex Bike Animal Honda’s James Ellison has put his fifth position qualifying for tomorrow’s two BSB races down to a top-secret fork setting.

“Our suspension man, Javier, has come up trumps again,” said Ellison.

“He’s made something out in Spain at his home that fits to the fork leg.

“The change has made massive improvements over the bumps – last time we were here I had a really vague feeling going through Paddock Hill, Druids and Clearways.

“On the Indy circuit they are three out of just the five corners there are!

“I told the guys not to change anything else to the bike because it was perfect – I just needed to make up time in the first sector.”

Ellison was slower than his team-mate Guy Martin through the first sector yesterday.

But Ellison’s riding style change has made the big improvement for today, allowing him to set a best of 46.255 this afternoon during the qualifying session.

“It’s all feeling really good now,” added the former MotoGP and AMA rider.

“I knew I had to improve on turn one, and the fork solution has helped because the fork now rises better.

“In he final sector I’m the second fastest behind Shakey, so it should be a good day tomorrow.”
