Bridewell sister completes charity skydive

Just a year after the death of her younger brother Ollie was killed at Mallory Park, Charlotte Bridewell has stuck to her word of doing a skydive to raise money for Cancer Research.

Ollie Bridewell, who died during a practice session at the Leicestershire circuit on July 20th last year, had a monthly standing order to the charity and over £6000 was raised during the Devizes rider’s funeral.

Regular race-goes from the Red Devil’s Parachute Display Team offered 24-year old Charlotte the chance to do a tandem skydive, and she literally jumped at the opportunity and leapt out of a plane at 13,000 feet today.

Charlotte completed the jump near the team’s base at Netheravon near Salisbury.

She said: “I really was scared and the nearer the time came, the worse it got but now I’ve done it, I have to say it was a wonderful experience!

“It’s not every day you get a good looking man strapped to your back and Dan really did look after me and I’m so grateful.

“On the way down I could see Thruxton circuit and also Mum and Dad’s house and the garage which was weird but I’m really glad I did it and I know Ollie would have been proud of me!”

So far Charlotte has raised £6000 for doing the jump, but is hoping people will be inspired to pledge more now she’s done the jump.

“We’d really like to hit our target of £10,000 so hopefully, we can get a few more local businesses and individuals, as well as anyone else to help us achieve our goal” added Charlotte.
