Ellison puts Phase One Yamaha on Qatar 8H pole

BSB runner-up James Ellison has put the British-based Yamaha Phase One Endurance on pole position for tomorrow’s Qatar 8 Hour – the final round of the World Endurance Championship.

He clocked 2:01.002 on superpole lap, while Hugo Marchand – riding for Michelin Power Honda – was the last rider to run in Superpole and only managed a time of 2:01.046 to take second place.

Phase One’s arch rivals – and 2009 World Champions Yamaha Austria start in ninth place after  Steve Martin fluffed his timed lap, recording a 2:05.150.

BK Maco Moto (Jason Pridmore, 2:02.024) will start from third position, Bolliger Kawasaki (Muff, 2:02.6) are fourth, RMT21 Honda (Depoorter, 2:03.502) fifth and RT Racing Team Suzuki (Devoyon, 2:03.946) start from sixth place.

QERT Suzuki were the only Superstock team to make Superpole; they will start from seventh place after lapping in 2:04.310.

The Qatar 8 Hour race starts tomorrow at 13:00 local, 11:00 CET and 10:00 GMT.
