Buildbase Kawasaki sign Adam Jenkinson

Buildbase Kawasaki team owner Stuart Hicken has signed Superstock rider Adam Jenkinson will join John Laverty in the Buildbase Kawasaki team for next year’s British Superbike campaign.

Jenkinson’s 2009 Superstock performances that took him to fourth in the championship caught Hicken’s eye and earned a shot on the Buildbase bike in the end-of-season Sunflower international at Bishopscourt.

The 24-year old landscape gardener from Manchester said: “I’m made up this has all come off. I know the real potential of the bike.”

Jenkinson had a brief flirtation with BSB in 2008, when he signed to ride for SMT Honda – but he sat out virtually the entire 2008 season after a horror crash on an SMT Honda in the first round at Thruxton left him with two badly smashed wrists that took seven operations to fix.

For 27-year-old Laverty it’s the first time in his career he’s been in a position to stick with a team for a second season and he plans to make the most of it.

“I came to the team very late so we never really had a chance to test but by the middle of the year we had a pretty good base set-up and it was a good learning year for me,” said Laverty.

“We know what we need to improve the bike and I think we’ll be pushing for podiums all year.”
