Guintoli getting back up to speed

Sylvain Guintoli continued to rebuild his confidence in his comeback from injury with seventh and eighth places on the Worx Suzuki at Silverstone.

He said: “At Croft it was difficult to find the pace.  I had a couple of crashes. I had bad qualifying. But I had good pace by the end of qualifying. But make mistakes and you pay the price.

“This weekend it’s better. I’m still working my way back to form and we’ll reach it at some point. My leg is okay – as good as it will be. It’s not too bad.”

Guintoli has still not hit the same kind of form that we saw form him early in the year before he was injured at Donington in May.

Up until then the Frenchman  had finished first and second at Brands and scored two third places at Oulton. There are some who felt he made his comeback too early – but he refutes this.

He said: “It’s never too early to come back.  I was expecting to be back here next year in BSB so I needed to ride the tracks.

“It’s never too early to come back – but sure, it was early. The main thing is that it’s difficult to come back and perform just how you used to.”
