Guintoli to race at Thruxton

Worx Suzuki star Sylvain Guintoli will line-up for the MRO Powerbike club race at Thruxton on October 17.

Ironically a year ago on the corresponding weekend, the Frenchman was finishing 14th in the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island!

But Gunitoli is not actually going to race but to use the event to learn the course for 2010.

Team boss Jack Valentine said: “Sylvain is going to get to grips with the circuit.

“The restrictions there are so tight that you can’t even take a road bike around the course so this MRO round is a unique opportunity for him to get some track time in preparation for 2010.

“We’ve got a reasonably set-up for the bike from when Michael Rutter rode for us there earlier this year (when Guintoli was out injured).

“We’ve no intention of racing as such. In fact, if Sylvain wants to adjust something, then he’ll come in mid-race and change things.

“The objective is not to race but to gather information.”
