Rutter back in BSB on Ducatis

Michael Rutter makes a return to BSB at Silverstone, riding the ex-NW200 Ducatis that are still owned by Irish Businessman Alastair Kennedy.

Rutter has secured backing from Black Horse Finance, Shoei Helmets and Bathams Brewery to rekindle his BSB career and will also race the Italian V-twins in the final BSB round at Oulton.

He said: “I was sitting around watching Croft on TV and thought, ‘I can’t bear the thought of watching Silverstone and Oulton like this. I’ve got to get back out there.’ So I rang Alastair to see if I could borrow the bikes. On Tuesday he rang to say I could so then I got in the car and went to see a few people and pulled the deal together.”

Rutter’s has enlisted former GSE Racing engine builder ‘Desmo’ Dave Allenby (who now runs his own race engine business) to freshen up the bikes which has sat dormant since the end of the 2008 season. One bike is to the 2008 BSB supersport-spec rules but the other has a full 2008 WSB-spec engine.
