Kirkham still chasing BSB dream

National Superstock 1000 Champion Jon Kirkham is planning to improve upon his dominant Superstock championship win by progressing into British Superbikes for 2011.

Kirkham, who has ridden in the class in previous years, feels that now is the time for a successful return to BSB.

Having won the Superstock title riding a Samsung Mobile backed BMW, Kirkham said: “After having a hard, but successful 2010 season, winning the title on my own S1000RR, I now feel I am riding at the top of my game, with more to come.

“BSB is where I have always felt I can show my quality, so it’s now down to putting the right package together, so I can compete on an equal level with the other teams and riders.”

Kirkham has been linked with various teams and opportunities for 2011, but remains focused upon riding in British Superbikes again.

He continued: “I have had lots of phone calls with people and some really awesome ideas have come in, but I want to capitalise on my title winning year and get back into superbikes with a winning team, I know more than most that’s what is needed!

“Now we are working on putting something together with sponsors and a top team. It’s all a bit smoke and mirrors, but that’s how racing is and the negotiations are moving on, so I am confident, if it all comes together, it will be a great opportunity for me in 2011 BSB. Now it’s down to some hard training and I hope that Santa gets the message! “
