South African Hudson Kennaugh has joined the Splitlath Aprilia BSB Evo team, partnering Newcastle rider Chris Burns on board a second Aprilia RSV4 machine, starting this weekend at Snetterton.

Kennaugh currently leads the Evo series and his move to the Aprilia team comes after parting company with Malcolm Ashley’s MAR Kawasaki team earlier in the week.

Splitlath owner John Dimbylow said: “We are thrilled to welcome Hudson to the team. Despite various rumours which have been floating around for some time, Splitlath and Hudson only entered into talks this week with a view to him joining us.

“Hudson was in a situation where he did not think he would be able to finish the season with his former team, so we stepped in to help him. We took him to Cadwell Park on Wednesday and he tried the bike and was happy with it.

“This is an exciting time for Splitlath Motorsport Aprilia. Chris will have his new bike this weekend which should give him some extra power.

“We know this round will be our hardest of all because it doesn’t necessarily suit our bike, but with our new rider line-up we’re all excited and ready to go.”
