Snetterton BSB: Josh Brookes takes race one win

1 of 1

Josh Brookes extended his lead in the MCE British Superbike Championship to 13 points over Tommy Hill with a stunning win in today’s (Saturday) 18-lap race.

Brookes made a bad start and had to work his way from ninth on the first lap to second place just before mid-distance. But then he waited until the final lap to make his race-winning move to pass race-long leader and HM Plant Honda team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari into Riches.

Brookes said: “I’ve had good pace all weekend but I made it hard on myself with a a bad start. From the lap times on my dash I could see I had a strong pace but Kiyo was riding really hard.

“I was looking everywhere to see if there was a place to pass. In the end I had to make a lunge on the last lap and knew if I could get in front I had enough to hold him off for the rest of the lap.”

Tommy Hill finished third on the Worx Suzuki from Knockhill winner Michael Rutter riding the ridersmotorcycles.com Ducati, with Relentless Suzuki pair Alastair Seeley and Michael Laverty completing the top six.
