Donington BSB: Brookes eases to race one victory

1 of 1

Tyco TAS Suzuki rider Josh Brookes dominated the first superbike race at Donington Park today to ease to his second victory of the season despite a red flag after 13 laps.

Pole sitter Brookes got a good start to lead Tommy Hill from the first lap, and held a comfortable lead up until lap 13 when his team-mate Alistair Seeley’s bike leaked oil down Craner Curves.

The second half of the race was a seven lap dash which Brookes again comfortably led from flag to flag.

Championship leader Tommy Hill finished second, but never really looked like challenging Brookes for the lead. Samsung Honda rider Michael Laverty finished third.

Ian Lowry all but ended his chances of making the Showdown when he crashed during the first half of the race onboard his Padgetts Honda.

Alex Lowes and Tommy Bridewell look set to secure the final two places in the showdown, finishing sixth and ninth respectively.
