MCN’s top ten BSB riders: 5th

1 of 1

With all the dust settled on yet another highly competitive year in the MCE British Superbike championship, MCN have taken the opportunity to look back on the season and sort our top ten riders – based on more than just race results!

5th: James Ellison

  • Championship position: 8th
  • Wins: 0
  • Podiums: 10

What a year of highs and lows 2014 proved to be for James Ellison. From an incredible run of form at the start of the year, to the lows of a badly broken leg at the mid-way point, before a bounce back and a return to the podium at the final round.

His start of the season was nothing short of miraculous, considering he was working with a new bike and a new team, but he managed to take podium finishes in all but two races up until his crash – denied only at Knockhill by another rider’s mistake.

But it all went wrong in July, and a small mistake left him facing the prospect of an early end to his season. A herculean effort took him back on a bike only 33 days later, but it wasn’t to be, and he was left out of the Showdown.

With nothing to lose in the final rounds, he threw himself into returning back to podium pace – and a pair of seconds, ironically at Brands Hatch, proves he’s back.

Sticking with the GBmoto team for 2015, he should start even stronger, and stands his best chance of that elusive title in years.
