Bimota World Superbike team Alstare have announced a new junior team outfit that’s set to compete in the next three rounds of the MCE British Superbike Championship with French rider Christophe Ponsson.

The Frenchman, who has scored points already this season on the Bimota in the Spanish CEV championship, raced last year in the European Superstock 1000 Championship, finishing in the top fifteen in all but three rounds of the WSB support series.

Team boss Benjamin Batta, son of highly experienced WSB boss Francis, said: “The Bimota Alstare Junior Team are very happy to race with wildcard appearances in the MCE British Superbike Championship and we want to thank all the organisations who have made this possible with their cooperation and efficiency. Although the British circuits are unfamiliar for Christophe he is very excited and happy to take on this new challenge.”

MCE BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs concluded: “I’m delighted to welcome the Bimota Alstare Junior team to the championship together with Christophe.   Both Bimota and Alstare have huge pedigree in the history of Superbike racing and its fantastic news for the MCE BSB to have them represented and add the seventh manufacturer to the Championship.”

The team will contest three rounds from next time out onwards, as they continue to develop the BMW-powered Bimota. That will see the Frenchman introduced to high speed Thruxton, Oulton Park and the unique challenge of Cadwell Park.
