Walker's GBmoto Kawasaki in free practice fireball

Chris Walker and a number of other riders have had a lucky escape during free practice three for the second round of the MCE British Superbike Championship this weekend at Oulton Park, after a crash at Hizzy’s resulted in Walker’s bike going up in a huge fireball.

Crashing the bike as he transitioned through the chicane, the fuel cap fell off in the ensuring crash, showering the bike and circuit in petrol and causing a spark to ignite it, with the Lloyds British Gbmoto Kawasaki sustaining heavy fire damage.

Walker, who bounced away from the crash unhurt, then attempted to pull the burning bike out of the pool of fire, before marshals with fire extinguishers were able to quench the flames.

Patric Muff, close behind on the Bathams BMW, was forced to take evasive action to avoid riding through the flames.
