Be Wiser Kawasaki to branch out to F1 sidecars

New MCE British Superbike team Be Wiser Kawasaki, managed by former BSB champion Tommy Hill, is set to expand for its debut season even before launching new bikes, with a merger with top British F1 sidecar duo Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood.

The move will see Stevens and Charlwood’s Team WPS/Assured Office Solutions Kawasaki outfit fall under the Be Wiser Kawasaki branding, as the insurance company spreads its sponsorship to the three wheeled community.

Team boss Tommy Hill commented: “We’ve decided to take the lead in having an alliance between two completely different championships and types of machinery. I’ve seen the Sidecar paddock grow in stature and professionalism over the years, and it really caught my eye last year.”

“I was left wondering why there’s no connection between the Superbike class and the Sidecar Championship. With AOS (Assured Office Solutions) agreeing to be a team partner for 2015, this allows us to join forces with the WPS AOS Sidecar race team, which is great news, and also gives another spectacle for our team partners too.”

Roger Body, organiser of the British F1 championship, added: “We have been working towards this type of merger for many seasons now. This association will further enforce the value to BSB teams of having a wider presence both in the paddock and on-track. I cannot overstate the advantages.”

Hill’s new superbike machines, designed by himself in his other life as a graphic designer, will be unveiled at Motorcycle Live at the NEC on Monday, at 11am on the main stage.
