Brookes smashes Cadwell lap record

1 of 1

In final qualifying Josh Brookes drew first blood by cracking the lap record at Cadwell Park. The Australian was almost half a second quicker than Danny Buchan at that point but with the duo having set the pace all weekend their fight for pole sets a strong stage for tomorrow’s opening race of the day.

Tommy Bridewell took the final spot on the front row after finishing 0.004s faster than Luke Mossey with Peter Hickman and Billy McConnell on the second row.

Shane Byrne was knocked out of the top ten by Martin Jesspopp on the final lap of Q2 with the PBM rider having struggled all weekend for feeling from the bike. At the start of the second session Christian Iddon ran off the track on his first flying lap but made it back to the pits to get his bike checked over and get back on track. He eventually qualified 16th.

In the opening 20 minute qualifying session Danny Buchan set the pace from Josh Brookes with both immediately close to lap record pace. The duo have been the pacesetters all weekend. John Hopkins crashed after setting one fat lap but was still able to set a time for the top 18 and be the final man to make the cutoff. Josh Waters and Ryuichi Kiyonari were the high profile casualties.
