BSB: Iddon reignites showdown hopes

Christian Iddon reignited his hopes of a Showdown spot with a podium finish as he returned to action at Brands Hatch this weekend.

The Tyco BMW rider needed a skin graft on a heavy cut to his arm after a free practice crash at Knockhill, ruling him out of the Scottish event and following round at Snetterton.

While he dropped from fourth to eighth in the title standings, an eighth and third move him to just nine points off Peter Hickman in sixth.

“I lost more points than I’d hoped to while I was out injured, and the guys who I could have done with not doing so well put in some great rides!” Iddon said. “It’s nice to come back and be there or there abouts. We’re still in with a shot at the showdown and that’s not too bad after two rounds away.”
