BSB: Hopkins out after paddock hill crash

1 of 1

John Hopkins will miss the remainder of the MCE British Superbike finale at Brands Hatch after a crash in qualifying.

The MotoRapido Ducati rider crashed heavily on the entry to Paddock Hill bend in the third and final phase of qualifying causing the session to be stopped with a red flag.

Hopkins was taken to the medical centre, where he was diagnosed with a fracture to the L2 vertebra and suspected fractures to both knees. He has since been transferred to Kings Hospital in London for further assessment.

Third quickest ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying session, the former MotoGP star was looking promising ahead of this afternoon’s opening race.
