BSB: Iddon ruled out with fractured hand

Christian Iddon has been ruled out for the remainder of the third round of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park after fracturing his hand in a free practice crash.

The Tyco BMW rider went down at Britten’s chicane early in the second free practice session. He was taken to the medical centre where he was diagnosed with a fracture of his left hand and ruled unfit for the remainder of the weekend.

“I made a mistake and lost the front, I don’t know why I lost the front but I guess I was going too fast for what the bike could take!” Iddon told MCN. “It wasn’t big crash but it was very fast, I went down lightly. When I was tumbling I couldn’t get my bearings… it sounds stupid but you can control a crash sometimes, but I couldn’t today and I’ve made a bit of a mess of my hand.

“It’s bad enough to rule us out for the rest of the weekend… I suppose if there’s a round to do it then this is the one as we’ve got six weeks off after here.”
