BSB: Iddon: "We have nothing to lose"

Christian Iddon has said he has ‘nothing to lose’ as he sets about securing himself a spot in the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Showdown at this weekend’s Silverstone triple header.

The Tyco BMW rider sits eighth in the title standings, just 15 points off sixth place so is within a shout of becoming one of the six riders who will fight for the title over the final three rounds.

However, 2018 has proven tough for Iddon so far. Unlike in previous years, he’s yet to stand on the podium with the Tyco BMW squad this season but Silverstone has often been a strong track for the Derbyshireman. Whether that will still be the case now the series will race on the 1.6-mile national circuit remains to be seen.

“I am outside the top six currently so we get to Silverstone with nothing to lose,” Iddon said. “I haven’t actually looked at the points’ situation because I know who I am racing against and I have been aware of that since Cadwell Park. I just figure that I know it is possible and I am not that far away and if I just race the best that I can that is all you can do.”
