BSB: Walker to return to Sidecar action with TAG Racing

Fans’ favourite Chris Walker will return to competitive action in the Hyundai Construction British Sidecar Championship in 2019 after penning a deal with TAG Racing.

Former BSB runner-up Walker switched to sidecar racing in 2016, but a big crash at Cadwell Park the year after has seen him out of action since having broken his back. However, fit and raring to go, Walker is ready to get back in the seat and is aiming big having secured podium finishes in his debut season.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my debut year with a sidecar outfit and loved every minute of it,” Walker said. “2017 was less successful and ended up with me being injured half-way through the year. I am first and foremost a racer and I do have unfinished business in the championship.

“There’s no way I wanted to end my racing career off the back of an injury. I know it won’t be easy but I have a great team behind me and an enthusiastic young passenger in Tom Christie, who has a proven track record.”

Walker and Christie will be out for the first time at the annual Val de Vienne test session in March, which will mark the first time Walker has been in a sidecar outfit since his Cadwell crash.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike,” he said. “The French test will tell me everything I need to know about the new 600 [all outfits in the British Championship will be 600cc from 2019]. We’ll start steadily, get to know eachother and hopefully build on that.”
