BSB Knockhill: Scott Redding to replace injured Glenn Irwin at Hager PBM Ducati

Scott Redding will make his return to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend at Knockhill as he replaces the injured Glenn Irwin at Hager PBM Ducati.

Irwin has been ruled out of action after undergoing surgery on his sacrum following a highside during FP3 at Snetterton. It’s not yet known how long the 2023 runner-up will be on the sidelines.

Redding returns to the team that he claimed the 2019 title with in his one and only BSB campaign. The former MotoGP rider won 11 races on his way to the crown, ending the year five points clear of teammate Josh Brookes.

“It’s exciting for me to be back racing in front of the BSB crowd this weekend at Knockhill,” Redding said. “Obviously, I have some really great memories with the team from when we won the title back in 2019 and as always, I want to do the best job I possibly can for myself, our sponsors and the team.

“I want to put on the best performance I can with this opportunity and I also want to wish Glenn a speedy recovery from his injuries.”

Redding has plenty of experience on the V4 R. After claiming the 2019 BSB title, Redding moved into the factory Ducati team in the World Superbike Championship. In 2020, Redding finished as runner-up to Jonathan Rea after securing five victories and a total of 14 podiums.

The following year Redding improved by celebrating seven race wins and a total of 23 podiums, but had to settle for third overall behind Toprak Razgatlioglu and Rea.

Redding spent the next three seasons onboard BMW machinery, but was unable to match the results he managed onboard the Ducati. Redding recorded three podiums and secured a best championship finish of eighth onboard the M1000 RR.

2025 saw Redding return to Ducati machinery with the Bonovo team, and he started the year brightly with a pair of fourths at Phillip Island. Since then, Redding’s best result has been sixth in the Superpole race at Assen.

“I am pleased to share that Glenn’s recovery is going well,” Hager PBM Ducati co-owner Jordan Bird said. “The whole team are behind him and we can’t wait to see him back in action.

“In the meantime, we are thrilled to welcome Scott back into the team! His experience is invaluable and if 2019 is anything to go by, we are going to hit the ground running. This marks a different chapter in our 2025 story, and we’re ready to take it on together. We want to thank everyone who has played their part in making this happen.

“Finally to our Scottish supporters, we know you’ll welcome Scott back to BSB with open arms. We look forward to seeing lots of you trackside this weekend.”

The last time Redding visited Knockhill he won one race and finished second in the other. This despite it being his first trip to the Scottish circuit.
