While Valentino Rossi was popping champaign corks to celebrate his win in Rio and new MotoGp title, Jeremy McWilliams was popping painkillers after his bike seized, spitting the Ulsterman off, cracking his collarbone.

You can read all about the Brazilian GP in the latest issue of MCN, out September 25.

McWillams had put his Proton KR on the front row after a blistering qualifying session. But despite dreadful conditions he was holding a solid fifth, when on lap five the driving rain lowered the engine temperature and caused a cold seizure.

McWilliams told MCN: ” I closed the throttle and it seized, locking the rear and highsiding me.

” I landed heavily and I’ve got a small fracture, but I’ll definitely be back for Motegi. ”

The next round of the MotoGP series is at the Motegi Twin-Ring in Japan on October 6.
