Arnaud Vincent will race for the Aprilia Sterilgarda Racing team at the next round of the 125cc championship at Estoril in Portugal on September 7, after the team terminated the contract of current rider Youichi Ui.

Vincent, the reigning 125cc champion, will again be racing an Aprilia RS125, the machine on which he won his crown, after a dismal season with the new KTM squad. Meanwhile Ui, himself a former champion, is now out of a job.

Ui said: ” The team have not said anything to me and I haven’t received one call. In spite of having a current contract, they cancelled it just so they can take rider who has a ‘number one.’ It’s incredible. ”

The Japanese rider is speaking with a number of teams in the hope of racing in Portugal. Ui is currently in ninth in the championship with 91 points, while Vincent is twentieth on 14.

Meanwhile KTM may face legal action from the Ajo Motorsports team over Mika Kallio, the rider who replaced Vincent. The team claim Kallio illegally cancelled his contract with them for the rest of the 2003 season so he could join the Austrian firm’s GP effort.

A statement from the team reads: ” We are still hoping to find a conciliatory solution to this situation, but if no cooperation is shown from the other side, we will take any actions available to enforce our agreement with Kallio and seek compensation for damages.
