Sete Gibernau has set the fastest time in an eventful warm up session for this afternoons British GP at MCN Donington Park, while huge crowds pour in to the circuit to catch all the action.

Gibernau was lapping only fractions of a second slower than the qualifying time that sees him start the race in second place behind Max Biaggi finishing with a 1:31.1 lap.

There is currently an eight mile queue on the M1 on the approach to junction 24, the exit for Donington, as tens of thousands try to get in for the day’s racing.

27,000 people turned up for the qualifying sessions yesterday and with the stunning weather we are experiencing at the moment record crowds of up to 80,000 are expected today, 127,000 visiters over the entire weekend.

Three riders fell during the intense morning session with Tohru Ukawa coming off at high speed while Alex barros and Yukio Kagayama had a coming together going round Redgate.

All three riders walked away but Alex Barros pulled out of this afternoon’s race with an injured hand.

Jeremy McWilliams was out on both the two-stroke and four-stroke Proton bikes after having trouble with the brand new V5 during qualifying.

Check back regularly throughout the rest of the day for updates on all the action at MCN Donington Park
