Proton KR stays on two-strokes for German GP

1 of 1

The Proton KR team has announced it will continue to run its two-stroke machines for the German GP at the Sachsenring on July 27.

The track may favour the light and nimble strokers, but it is a shortage of engine parts, particularly reliable crankshafts, that has forced riders Jeremy McWilliams and Nobuatsu Aoki to shun the KR V5 four-strokes.

” We never really meant to race the bikes we’ve seen out on the track so far, ” explained team boss Kenny Roberts. ” They were the first development prototypes and even while we’ve been racing we’re also doing initial shakedown tests. ”
