Ryo gets wildcard GP ride

The Suzuki MotoGP team has announced that factory test rider Akira Ryo will be riding as a wildcard entry in both the Motegi and Sepang rounds of the championship.

Ryo made six appearances as a Suzuki wildcard last year but his commitments at the factory have prevented him from competing so far this year. The 2001 All Japan champion will use the next two GP rounds in Japan and Malaysia to test new developments on the firms GSV-R.

The team is no doubt hoping that Ryo, who took the bike to second place on its first time out, will raise the fortunes of the bike which has sat at the back of the field for most of the season.
