British GP wildcards

Two British wildcards have been confirmed for the British MotoGP round at Donington Park on July 23-25.

Eugene Laverty and Karl Harris will race for the Red Bull Rookies Honda team in the 125GP and International Supersport support race respectively.

Laverty, 18, will race the Red Bull Rookies Honda RS125. The Ulsterman is currently second in the British 125GP Championship with three race wins, three pole positions and two other podium finishes.

Harris, 24, will ride a Honda CBR600RR for the team. The Yorkshireman is currently defending his British Supersport title for the HM Plant Honda team, who are also sponsored by Red Bull. Harris is currently leading the British championship and his circuit knowledge should put him with the front runners.

“It’s no secret that I would like to advance my career beyond the British Championship,” said Harris. “My two years with Honda Racing and the CBR600RR have enabled me to gain experience and confidence, and I hope Ill be able to bring this in play at Donington and share some of the benefits with Eugene.”
