Day of Champions 2004

The annual Day of Champions event takes place on Thursday July 22 2004 at the Donington park circuit to raise money for the Riders for Health charity.

The day includes stunt shows and entertainment, but one of the major attractions is the chance to meet the racers just a day before the British MogoGP round officially begins. And there’s also the famous Day of Champions auction with GP stars donating helmets, leathers and other memorabilia either worn by them, signed by them, or both.

The list of events during the day includes:

Pit lane open from 11:00am to 4:00pm

SuperAnorak road racing quiz hosted by Suzi Perry

Ride-In to Donington by 200 bikes, which will be led around three laps of the circuit

Stunts shows and extreme trails displays running throughout the day

Bus trips around the circuit

British Superbike scooter race

Two-seater riders on the Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP bike, ridden by Randy Mamola

Sidecar rides around the circuit.

Paddock passes were limited to 2000, and have now sold out, but main entrance tickets are available on the gate. It costs £10 for adults but accompanied under 15s are free. The auction will be started by Sete Gibernau at 5pm, with other riders and teams appearing throughout the evening.

Kenny Roberts Jnr’s leathers. Max Biaggi’s white leathers from Mugello 2004. Rossi’s bubble screen from Repsol. Leathers from Barros, Melandri, Hodgson, Gibernau. Full kit of helmet, boots, gloves and leathers from Ruben Xaus and Colin Edwards. The signed framed and annotated map of Donington from the MCN interview with Valentino Rossi, and loads more still to be announced.
