Rossi tests F1 Ferrari

Valentino Rossi has been testing a Ferrari F1 car – just a day after signing up to stay with Yamaha.

Rossi tested with Ferrari last year. But unlike on that occasion, this year his Yamaha team boss Davide Brivio knew all about it in advance.

Rossi’s contract allows him the freedom to do car tests of this kind, says Yamaha.

The test, conducted in front of Ferrari top brass in last year’s F2004 car, covered 80 laps at the firm’s private Fiorano circuit.

Michael Schumacher needn’t worry just yet. Rossi’s best time was 59.21 – three seconds slower than Schumacher’s track record.
