Capirossi tops 1st day

1 of 1

Loris Capriossi has topped the first day of practice at the Dutch round of the MotoGP world championship.

Capirossi took his Ducati to the fastest lap of the Assen track on his last time round setting a time of 2:00.757 and beating second placed man and top rider from the morning session Valentino Rossi by 0.083 seconds

Many of the riders struggled with the altered track with numerous bikes taking to the gravel as the pace increased and Ruben Xaus taking a big fall.

Sete Gibernau managed to hold on to the third fastest time followed by Alex Barros, Marco Melandri and Nicky Hayden.

The second Ducati of Carlos Checa took eighth fastest time with Colin Edwards and Max Biaggi finishing the top ten.

You can bid on a piece of Loris Capirossi’s knee armour by going to MCN Auctions. The auction closes at 2.25pm Friday and you can check on its current price here.
