Shinya Nakano put Kawasaki at the top of the table on the second day of the final pre-season MotoGP test.

The Japanese rider finished over half a second ahead of his closest rival, Ducati’s Loris Capirossi at the three day Jerez test.

Ducati dominated the first day and looked as if they would manage it again on the Saturday, but Nakano pushed the ZX-RR through to take the top spot at the end of the day.

John Hopkins put in another impressive day taking his Suzuki GSV-R to the third fastest time ahead of Randy de Puniet and Danny Pedrosa.

Valentino Rossi cam home the fastest Yamaha in sixth place ahead of Carlos Checa, Sete Gibernau, Colin Edwards and Chris Vermeulen.

Sunday sees the final day of testing before the season begins at Jerez on March 26.
