Melandri wins - Rossi out

1 of 1

Marco Melandri took the win at the Le Mans GP in a race that saw Valentino Rossi retire for the second time in a row.

The race was dominated by a two way battle between Rossi and Dani Pedrosa until Rossi’s run of bad luck continued with a mechanical failure on lap 21 that put him out of the race.

This left the way for Marco Melandri to pounce on Pedrosa and build up a significant gap to take the win.

Loris Capirossi also managed to outbrake the reigning 250 world champion to take second place on the podium.

Casey Stoner continued to impress at the front of the pack eventually taking the race in fourth place ahead of Nicky Hayden who finished off the podium for the first time this year.

Colin Edwards took sixth place despite a big incident at the start of the race that saw him pushed off the track.
