Barros backs Biaggi

Alex Barros believes former MotoGP rival Max Biaggi will find it easier in World Superbikes than he did because the Italian is lining up in Suzuki’s official factory squad.

Barros raced for the Klaffi Honda squad in 2006 and decided to rejoin MotoGP with D’Antin Ducati having failed to land a factory deal in WSB.

“In World Superbikes I was very happy and people treated me very well. The problem was that I started with the project very, very late. And the team I was in was not one of the top teams and the level of the bike was not so fast. It was a difficult situation, unlike what Max is facing this year.

“Max has gone into a factory team, a top team and a top bike and that makes it easier for him to be competitive. My team and the bike were not very strong last year. I still had chances to win and make good races and I learned a lot and I was very happy there.

“The level of World Superbikes is very good and it surprised me, ”said Barros, who held negotiations with Yamaha, Suzuki and Ducati in World Superbikes before signing for Spaniard Luis D’Antin’s satellite Ducati team in MotoGP.
