Burgess happy at Yamaha

Aussie crew chief Jerry Burgess says he has got no intention of ending his formidable partnership with seven-times world champion Valentino Rossi.

Rossi recently extended his Yamaha contract to run until the end of the 2008 MotoGP season, and the Italian said as long as he is around, Burgess will be at the helm of his factory Yamaha crew.

Five of Rossi’s world titles have come working under the wing of Burgess, who also won five world titles with Mick Doohan.

Burgess said: “I’m very happy to be where I am and without question I’d certainly like to be around in 2008. To be perfectly honest there is nobody out there that I’d rather work for, so I can’t see myself going somewhere else. The chances of that from my side are pretty slim.

“If you are not happy working for a rider who puts in as much as what Valentino does then there’s not much future for you in the sport. The relationship has worked well since 2000. The change from Honda to Yamaha was a massive step and that was successful. I’m very happy in Yamaha and it’s a great place to be.”
