Edwards on Jerez test

In-form factory Yamaha rider Colin Edwards has backed the factory’s YZR-M1 800 machine to continue its blistering winter pace when pre-season testing reaches its climax in Jerez.

Edwards said he is keen to get back to Jerez for the three-day session that starts on Friday (February 23, 2007), after he and team-mate Valentino Rossi impressed during testing at the Andalucian track last November.

Speaking with MCN, the American said: “The bike has progressed a lot since when we tested there last year.

“Our major problem in November was we wanted a lot more bottom end power for the slow and tight corners and now we have got that. It will be interesting to go back and see what different it makes.”
