Colin Edwards won't know future until late August

Colin Edwards will have to sweat on his future for another four weeks before finding out whether he has a MotoGP ride with Yamaha.

The American was hoping to have a clear idea about Yamaha’s 2008 plans at his home race in Laguna Seca, but he was still in the dark after a meeting with bosses on Sunday night.

It seems certain that Edwards’ three-year stint alongside Valentino Rossi in the factory team will come to an end, with Yamaha signing reigning world 250 champion Jorge Lorenzo.

Hot rumour is Edwards will be offered a ride in the satellite Tech 3 squad, but he said: “In Germany I wanted to be 90% sure of what I was doing in Laguna. But I’m 90% per cent don’t know s*it. I’m as honest as honest can be but I have no idea.”
Edwards said he had been told in brief discussion with Yamaha management that he would definitely have an answer after the summer break in Brno’s Czech Republic GP.
