Catalunya GP: Lorenzo extends 250 lead

1 of 1

Defending World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has tightened his grip of the 250 class with a dominant victory at the Catalan GP.
The 20-year-old Spaniard was consistently quickest all weekend and completed a faultless race weekend taking the win from flag to flag.
Lorenzo celebrated his first win at the Spanish track and his points lead increase with a popstar-style performance – singing into a microphone to a crammed grand stand with two back-up dancers dressed in the same leathers and lid as the 250 champ.
Second in the race was Alex De Angelis who fought off a tough-scrapping Andrea Dovizioso who was blown away by Aprilia speed on his Honda.
Thomas Luthi racked up a good fourth, heading two fellow 250 rookies in the shape of Alvaro Bautista and Mika Kallio.
Lorenzo leads the 250 standings with 153 points ahead of Dovizioso in second with 117.
